Here are your short answers to the question: Is it better to study at night or morning?
I will try to be as quick as possible, but then I will explain my answer below in full.
Is it better to study at night or morning?
If you are on a strict deadline, you are better off studying the night before, or the morning of the exam. Study when it is dark. (This includes nighttime and early morning before the sun comes up.)
If you are studying just to refresh your knowledge and casually reviewing your notes, it is better to study in the morning/daytime.
Why it is better to study at night
The reason why it is better to study at night is because of a few reasons.
I advise you to study at night or in the early morning when you have an exam that very day.
This is because you are going to be using short-term memory to get you a passable grade in your exam.
This means that if you study in the day time, it will be difficult for you to remember things in the exam.
3 reasons why you should study at night
- It is much quieter during the night, and this makes focusing easier.
- There are no distractions from family and friends at night
- There are high stakes, you must finish studying before it’s time for school. Some people work best under pressure.
Why it is better to study in the morning
I advise you to study in the morning if you aren’t on any strict deadline.
Morning or day time is great because you are under no threat to learn anything on short notice. You can take your time and learn with ease and take all the time you need.
Nighttime should be reserved for those hectic days when you need to study for an exam that you haven’t been studying for.
Your brain will associate night time for extreme studying. This leaves morning time free and relaxed.
3 reasons why you should study in the morning
- The sunlight makes everything brighter and clearer
- The weather is warm and cozy
- There is no deadline and there is an illusion that you have a lot of time on your hands
Things to consider before you study at night or morning
To be honest, I can’t go around telling people if it is better to study at night or morning.
Because everyone is different. You never know – what works for me doesn’t work for you.
That is why I have compiled this list of things you should consider before deciding if it’s better to study at night or morning:
1 . When do you have most energy?
Some people don’t have energy when they wake up in the morning. They need coffee to fuel their system. (By the way I hate coffee).
I don’t fall into this category because I have a lot of energy in the morning. In fact, the first thing I do when I wake up is to do yoga and workout for 30 minutes.
Ask yourself, do I have more energy at night or morning? Then decide when it is better to study.
2. When do you have free time?
If you go to school early in the morning and come back home a little before sunset, you probably don’t have enough daylight hours to get studying in.
That’s why everyone has a different answer to [Is it better to study at night or morning?]
3 . When do you study best?
Some people study best at night. Probably when their digestion has stopped for the day and it’s time to relax.
Some people enjoy the sunlight and the company of others while studying.
4 . It depends on if you get motivated
Trust me, I don’t do a lot of writing in the nighttime, but if I get motivated, I can stay up late into the night just banging on my keyboard.
All it takes is the right youtube video to motivate me to do a lot of hard work.
5 . Do you prioritize your sleep?
I have done experiments on myself regarding sleep.
I need a minimum of 10 hours of sleep to function the next day.
One day I went to bed at 1am. I woke up the next morning and my entire routine was destroyed. I couldn’t finish my workouts.
I wanted to eat my comforting junk foods.
I didn’t write at all, and I didn’t do any reading.
All I did was watch TV shows (I was watching Community. It’s awesome. Check it out when you aren’t studying!)
