“Life is alchemy, and emotions are the fire that turns me to gold.” – Glennon Doyle, Untamed.
A lot of us have buried our wants and desires. We did that because we wanted to make other people happy.
This starts from a young age, and seeps into our very being. That means that as you grow older, you don’t really know what you want or if you want anything, because it’s all just a fog in your head now. It’s not crystal clear anymore. You don’t know what you want anymore.
We are all here on this earth for a unique purpose. We are here to live out our days, for ourselves. Living to serve other people’s desires for you doesn’t really seem ideal if you think about it that way. By other people, I mean your parents, or grandparents, your siblings or your friends. Ultimately, our lives are our own.
No matter how much you’ve gone through and grown through, what you desire is always kind of there. At the edge of your consciousness. Something you truly want. Something you’ve always wanted. This could have manifested in your childhood or teenage. It doesn’t matter. That is what you have always wanted.
The truth is, a lot of the time, we feel like we could never get what we truly want. That’s why it’s hard to answer the question, “What do I truly want in Life?”
It’s hard because you don’t believe it could ever happen. I want you to remember that thing you want so badly. Or that you used to want so badly. It’s important to remember how it makes you feel. Ask yourself what your ideal life is. Sometimes that answer doesn’t come quickly. It’s okay. Give it a few days.
Don’t be afraid of what it means. Sometimes the answers are a sour pill to swallow. It’s up to you to build up the strength to admit to yourself that want you want is difficult. Sometimes just recognizing what you want is enough to vault you into a new stage of your life. Admitting to yourself what you truly want can give you a sense of peace and calm.
Sometimes we are too far gone into a dazed existence where we don’t really live for ourselves. We don’t know what’s inside of us. These are the times where meditation is extremely important. Meditation helps you to dive deeper into your consciousness. It helps you to unearth what you truly want in life. I think it’s no coincidence that when I’d been consistently meditating for a few days, I admitted to myself my true feelings about my current lifestyle and what I really wanted out of life.
It was hard at first. I didn’t want to believe a lot of things. I began to regret turning down a job that I landed fresh out of college. I began to admit to myself some things that would have otherwise sounded like me being ungrateful. When I did, it felt like my perspective shifted and something clicked into place. I felt at peace. I believe that this discovery of myself is going to help me to vault into greater levels of expansion and productivity.
In order to get into the groove of meditation, I suggest some free guided meditations from YouTube. Guided meditations are the perfect way to meditate for beginners. In fact, they are awesome for everyone at any level of meditation practice. They are basically step by step instructions on how to relax yourself and sink deeper into your conscious. I love them. They help me sleep some nights. These are the nights that I could have spent crying myself due to nighttime depression.

Guided meditation helps me to dissolve my anger. It helps my anger to just fizzles out, and I can go about my day with peace. Guided meditation helps me to get into an abundance mindset. It helps to awaken my chakras. It helps to awaken the divine within me. It helps me to dig deeper into my soul.
Here are some of my favorite guided meditations from YouTube. Feel free to check them out and enjoy meditating.
Finally, one of the best ways to figure out what you truly want in life is to ask the right questions. When we are younger, these questions are always asked.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“What do you like?”
“What would you like to have for your birthday?”
Now that you’re older, no one is asking those questions. This means that you don’t have a chance to re-evaluate your priorities. That opportunity to look within doesn’t present itself as much these days. That’s why I’ve prepared a list of questions to zap you to find out your inner desires. I want to inspire you to re-discover your passions in life. Write down all that you can. Sometimes, your first answer is your intuition speaking. Allow all your desires to flow through, no matter how crazy they may sound.
You may have to repeat this activity over and over again in order to fine tune the truest of true desires in your heart. It may take several days of meditation and ruminating on these questions to arrive at the final answers. It’s alright. You have all the time in the world. This is about you.
