Are you isolating at home? You still have to attend classes and study!
This post is a list of ways to help you study at home during isolation.
Studying at home is not a new thing. We did it all the time before lockdown. But now it’s a bit different. We have online classes at home. School is bleeding into our home. So, how do you maintain that boundary between home and school, but still study and get good grades?
Here are 5 steps to take while studying during isolation at home:
How to Study During Isolation at Home
1 . Remove distractions and organize your study area
It’s time to face it – that study table that you sit at when studying? It’s now school. Every time you take an online class during isolation, you’re going to sit there. It saves time and space, and it’s probably the most comfortable and efficient for school work.
Taking online classes during isolation at home means you should remove all distractions so you can focus on school work. Keep your phone away and try not to focus on too many things at once.
2 . Organize and plan your study session
Study sessions at home are no new thing. However, if you’ve never been much of a planner, it’s time you began planning. Planning is very important for studying. Organizing all your study material is essential for a productive study session at home. Plan what topics you will be covering, and for how long.
3 . Remember to take breaks
Unless you’re Ruby Granger (check her youtube here) and like to study for 14 hours straight, you are going to need lots and lots of (short) breaks. Being in STUDY mode is great, but most of us can’t last very long without burning out and waking up sad the next day (me). That is why it is extremely important to schedule short and frequent breaks for stretching, resting the eyes, and hydrating.
I recommend breaks every 15-30 minutes.
4 . Make sure you actually know how to study
I can’t stress this enough: There are people out there who don’t know how to study. Or at least they don’t know the study method that could help them get way better grades than they are getting.

5 . Review
Whether it’s right after an online class, or right after a study session, be sure to review what you learnt.
Most students miss out on better grades because they study once and call it a day. You need to revisit the things you learnt and read through them again and again so they impress on your memory. That’s what reviewing is about. One time just doesn’t cut it. It’s why you don’t remember things in exams. Because you don’t do enough reviewing.
