Teas are the perfect beverage. Perfect for brooding over a book, or contemplating your day while journaling. Here are my top 5 teas for mental health.
A lot of my life is about finding that optimum amount of healthy mental health. Teas are great for so many things. They give you that energy boost, that metabolism; not to mention, they are great for my quiet evening contemplations. I love teas. I’m obsessed with them. I keep the boxes of old teas I used from Twinings, The London Tea Company or Heath & Heather (mostly because they are so aesthetically pleasing.) You can call me The Tea Collector.
Teas are just the perfect beverage. They’re not as sweet as juices and smoothies (which I also adore. Catch me drinking fresh pineapple juice EVERY DAY) but they are absolutely essential for everyday life. They give you that warmth, all the way to your soul.
Teas are infused with all these plant leaves, flowers, stem, or seeds, and they are just so amazing. Oh, and some of my tea blends appear to have fruit like apple in them. Some even have strawberry, yum! Anyway without any further ado, here is my list of top 5 teas for mental health.
Top 5 Teas for Mental Health
1 | Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea has to be the first on this list. I have an awesome story about this tea. It was the early days of university where I barely knew anyone and everything was just so confusing. The classes were all jumbled up in my head and I was always a bit anxious. One day I had some kind of faculty meeting and decided to have some amazing chamomile tea from Twinings. Well, what do you know? My anxiety melted right off.
I was aware of how odd I felt until I realized I was feeling perfectly calm. There was no trace of jitteriness to be found. I ended up making some friends and offering to be the first to introduce myself. I’m a big fan of chamomile tea for this reason. I love it.
2 | Peppermint tea
Peppermint tea is the perfect tea for mental health. I love the smell of peppermint. I mean who doesn’t? it always reminds me of the festive season. I also have a bottle of peppermint essential oil that is great for aromatherapy. It gets me into a fun and upbeat mood. It’s for this reason that I invest in peppermint tea as well. It also has some great properties for mental health such as soothing anxiety and tension.
3 | Regular black tea
I’m not a coffee person at all! Coffee just doesn’t sit right with my stomach. This is why I default to regular black tea whenever I need a simple tea. Black tea is a staple in most houses, I know. My home is not any different. We always have tea, and my whole family is obsessed with milk tea. Not me, however. I love a solid hot mug of black tea. I love the taste, and I love having quiet contemplations over a mug of tea. It warms me right up. With the right amount of sweetening, you have yourself the perfect cup of tea.
4 | Green tea
Green tea is great. I think everyone just kind of knows that green tea is important for weight loss. However, did you know that green tea is packed with a sizeable amount of caffeine? That’s sure to give you a boost of energy. I’ve actually been having green tea because it has almost 0 calories, and I’m trying to watch my weight. I’m currently at a slightly overweight BMI and I’m working on getting back to normal. Green tea is just kind of part of my weight loss routine.
5 | Lemon grass tea
Lemon grass tea is an old love of mine. I absolutely adore the smell of lemon grass. It’s just so fresh and citrusy. There was a time in my life where I was addicted to lemon grass tea. I would absolutely have it every single day without fail. In fact, at the height of my addiction, I would have 3 cups a day! I felt that it was getting a bit out of control so I reduced my consumption. However, I still do have lemon grass tea when I’m looking for some kick of lemon grass fragrance.
6 | Cranberry tea
Okay, I’m just gonna say it. Cranberries are good for vaginal health. That’s why I drink cranberry tea. It’s also great for eye health. I love the taste of cranberry tea. I have this tea pretty regularly and I hope it’s doing its job! Cranberry tea is perfect for my top 5 teas for mental health.
7 | Ginseng tea
I must admit, I became obsessed with ginseng tea because the Chinese have long used it for improving health. Ginseng is a root just like ginger. Which reminds me. Fresh ginger is a great addiction to teas, and I do use it for some flu relief, or just for the great taste. I have me some ginseng tea which is supposed to be great for blood sugar levels and for boosting the immune system.
8 | Rosehip tea
Number 8 for top teas for mental health is rosehip tea. You know how fruits develop after a flower matures? Flowers have all the parts in them that later turn into seeds, and the flesh and all that. Well, rosehip is the fruit of a rose plant. Awesome, right? I’m a big fan of roses, so that means by proxy, I’m a big fan of rosehip tea. Rosehip tea is rich in anti-oxidants and great for immune health. I really do love my tea blends to include some rosehip.
In conclusion, I love teas. I love collecting different teas with all sorts of ingredients. Right now, I’m obsessed with Heath & Heather’s Organic Bright and Fruity Morning Time tea with rosehip, guarana and ginseng. Obviously since the tea masters have prescribed it for a bright and fruity morning, count me in. I’ll have this tea in the morning after several cups of hot water, because I do love me some regular hot water. That’s it for my top 5 teas for mental health. I’ll recommend them to anyone, because they really do help me get my day in order.
