Habits are the foundation of our lives. The smallest habits are the ones that make or break us. Small habits, when added up day by day, create our entire lifestyles. That’s why it’s important for us to introduce productive habits into our routines.
Some of the daily habits I’ve listed down below are perfect for seamlessly integrating into your lifestyle. They don’t take up a lot of time and space in your to-do list. They are perfect for improving your life at home.
10 Daily Habits to Improve Life at Home
Without any further ado, here are the 10 daily habits to improve life at home.
1 – BRAIN DUMP
This is a new daily habit that I learned from Natalie. She also has an amazing self-love checklist that you can download and use every day to check off the things you should do every day to improve self love. What you want to do is to wake up and write down all your thoughts from the night/sleep. It can be messy, or detailed, just try to unload it so that you can go about your day without having to think about the thoughts or dreams from last night.
2 – MAKE YOUR BED
I know a lot of people (myself included) never make their beds. I recently started making my bed and it just changes the vibe of my entire room. It makes the whole space look fresh and crisp. It also makes me feel like I’m doing something just for myself. A little bit of self-love sprinkled there.
3 – MEDITATE
Don’t run away now that I’ve mentioned meditation! Hear me out. I found a cool way to meditate especially if you can’t do it on your own. This is the trick to it: Follow guided meditation videos on YouTube. This gives you all the benefits of meditating on your own. All you have to do is get comfortable and follow the voice of the meditation guide. They will tell you to breathe deep to get you to relax. Then they will tell you to imagine stuff; maybe walking through your private island, or walking down some deep steps. These are meant to get you to access your inner mind. It is so much fun. Be sure to include meditation in your daily routine.

4 – STRETCH
I like to do some bed stretches. The thing about habits is that it’s the small daily habits that compound together over time to give you great results. Stretching is really good for getting rid of any kinks from sleep. It helps to get your blood warm. It’s great. Below I’m linking the stretches I do for my legs, and I gotta say, they make my legs very flexible!
5 – HYDRATE!
When I get off my bed, what I will do is head straight to the kitchen and have a huge glass of warm water. Sometimes I squeeze a bit of lemon inside but it takes me so long to finish that. Lemon is quite scratchy on my throat. Drinking water early in the morning refreshes all my organs. Be sure to drink a lot of water throughout the day too! #StayHydrated
6 – WRITE A TO-DO LIST
My next daily habit to improve life at home is to create a to-do list. After drinking water and looking out the window for some time, I sit down and write an intentional to-do list. You can do this in your head, too. Writing a to-do list ensures that you are going to focus on productivity that day. Some days I forget to write to-do lists and that day is probably going to be spent watching TV shows all day long. To-do lists program your brain for maximum productivity.
7 – TRACK YOUR HABITS
This is my latest and greatest daily habit for productivity! I found out about it in The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. This guy is a successful person and he truly truly advises to track all your habits. I started by tracking every single activity that I do, with time stamps. I write them down in a special notebook. This habit has doubled my productivity, because I hate to write down that I spent 2 hours on YouTube watching silly videos. It also motivates me to fill in my daily habits with productive activities. In the book, the author also suggests that you write down one good thing that your significant other did for you that day. It’s a great way to be aware and grateful for your partner.
8 – TAKE BREAKS
Breaks are very important. Some days when I’m super busy, my productivity crashes the next day. That is why it’s important to take deliberate and mindful breaks. Currently, my favorite way to take a break is to prepare myself a healthy snack and enjoy it without any phone activity. My go-to snack is: 1 chopped up banana, 5-6 almonds roasted and chopped, 10 raisins, 4 dates and 1 teaspoon of peanut butter. It’s amazingly gooey and sweet and crunchy.
9 – FOLLOW THE RIGHT PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Our phones are an essential in our lives at this point. We’re always on some sort of social media. Social media is filled with all sorts of information. Be sure to unfollow all the people whose values don’t align with your own. This daily habit will help you better your day in a small way, but it has a great impact on your overall wellbeing.
10 – ADD SOME SPICE TO THE DAY!
Being productive is great, but be sure to add some self-care activities into your day. I like to take some time out to listen to good music, or to paint, or both at the same time. Take coffee or tea breaks, enjoy your favorite YouTube videos. These daily habits will make sure you balance out the work and the rest.
