Perception is everything. It can cause you to go from being a lazy and unmotivated bum to a studious and interested student. So, that begs the question: How can I change my perception in order to study better?
Well, my friends, this is all about hacking the mind into doing exactly what you want it to do. If you want to watch a video on this exact phenomenon, check out: How I Tricked My Brain To Like Doing Hard Things (dopamine detox)
Without further ado, here are 5 ways to change your perception so you can study better.
Positive reinforcement
What is positive reinforcement? Well, I heard about this phrase in a book about controlling people. If you can use it to control others, you can use it to control yourself. So basically what positive reinforcement entails is that you praise and reward yourself for any good work done. This work because it feeds into our desire to be “good”.
It might seem like a simple concept, but it actually works. make a connection in your brain that studying deserves a reward. You can choose to study before having lunch, and make it seems like food is your reward for studying. Thusly, some connections are made in the brain that tells you that studying is good.
Visualization
Imagine that studying excites you. This might not come easy for a lot of us, because the only thing studying does in bore us. But here, we are dealing with esoteric methods of changing your perception of studying, so you have to at least try it out.
Imagine yourself being excited to study. Think about getting awesome grades because of your studying. Smile, and jump out of bed, ready to seize the day! This is a method that will change your perception so you can study better.
Change your intentions for studying
Intention is everything. Change your intention for studying. maybe you study just for the sake of studying. Now, reset your intention. Make your intention for studying about: I’m studying so that I can learn more every day and be better prepared.
Go as in depth as you can and focus on really asking yourself what is the reason why I should study? When you come up with a good enough reason, you will be able to study even when you don’t feel like it.
Pretend that you like studying
Here is another mind hack for you: Pretend that you actually like studying. Act like you do. Get excited and happy to study. Actually, you can have fun studying if you spice things up and make your study session enjoyable.
For example, you can buy new scholastics so you can be excited to use them. Or make up games and funny phrases to remember thing. Check out
Stick to one specific time for studying
Another productivity hack to completely by-pass the brain’s laziness is to commit to studying only at one specific time. For example, choose to study at 8pm every day. When you do this strictly for a few days, your brain will form a habit.
After a few days, you will find yourself ready to study at 8pm. This really works. Focus on building habits that need no decision making to happen for you to do them. Remove the decision making out of the way. Commit to one time in the day to study every single day.
That is all I have for you to today to help you to change your perception so you can study better. Please consider leaving a comment if you found this beneficial.
