How to Escape from Your Life Problems
Tried and true methods on how to escape problems coming right up!
1. Take a long shower/bath
Easiest technique for how to escape from problems? Take a long hot shower. Lock yourself away in your bathroom and feel the water on your skin. People like me can stand scalding temperatures of water. I think it distracts me. Being enclosed in a small space with only yourself is very relaxing. No one to bother you.
2. Exercise
Many people just completely disregard how great of a coping mechanism exercise is. We only exercise to burn off those cake calories when we feel guilty, or because we just want to stay in shape. Exercise id the perfect way to push out emotions from your system. Convert feelings like anger into energy! Feel strong even when you’re depressed!
3. Go to a café
Next up on how to escape from your life problems: Go to a café. Order a fresh juice or a coffee (I’m not a fan of coffee—sue me). Look outside, or watch people. Cafes are like therapy for me. It helps me to get away from my life and problems for just a while. I choose airy cafes with lovely plants to set the ambience.
4. Go swimming
Something about the water… Being in water is like being in a whole different world. Bouncing around in a pool, barely feeling your legs? Count me in. That’s one way for how to escape from your life problems.

6. Paint
Did I ever mention that I’m a painting enthusiast? I’m not very good but I always paint to destress. It’s really soothing and therapeutic. You don’t have to concentrate too much, but it takes your mind off things. This is a really effective technique for how to escape life.
7. Read a book
Reading books always transports me to another world. Hmm. Maybe that’s why I enjoy Fantasy fiction a lot. The idea of being a silver haired witch riding a dragon? Any day, guys. Any day. Alas, I can only read about heroic female leads. These days I also enjoy reading self help books. They can help you to take your mind off things—but they also inspire and motivate you to go after your dreams.
How NOT to escape from your Life Problems
The above are all coping mechanisms, but what should you NOT do if you want to escape from your life problems? There are some things that aggravate anxiety about impeding dooms. Stay away from these activities unless you want to spiral down into anxiety.
Let’s dive into how not to escape from life.
1. Social media
Aah, social media. The bane of my existence. Yesterday I got sucked back into mindless scrolling on Instagram, and being jealous of everyone else. Check out my post on why I quit social media and how I use my time instead. That said, never go on social media if you feel like your life is in the dumps. It will only make you feel worse.
2. Writing about what’s bothering you
As someone who journals regularly, I’d advise against writing about your anxieties if you’re trying to escape. It will drive you down a dangerous path. Your emotions will flood out of you and you might have a mental breakdown.
3. Talking to other people
Next up on what NOT to do when you want to escape from your life problems: Don’t vent to others. This tip comes from the times I regret telling other people what was going wrong in my life. When you want to escape from your life, you’re usually in a very precarious and emotional situation. This means you’re going to blab and cry and say things you will regret. Don’t get me wrong—talking to others is very good if you want to solve your problems. What I’m saying is that when you want to escape, you need time to collect your thoughts and catalog exactly what it is that you are feeling.
4. Listening to sad songs
Number 4 on how NOT to escape from your life problems: Don’t listen to emotional songs. Listening to sad songs only makes you sadder. Some songs are made with low vibrations that make you more emotional. Stay away from sad songs.
5. Staying up late laying in bed
Lastly on how to escape your problems: Don’t stay up late in the dark. There’s so many nights I lay in bed staring at my ceiling until I got a mental breakdown and cried myself to sleep. Just don’t do that. Turn on the lights and do something long enough to make you sleepy. Or don’t sleep. Just don’t leave yourself alone with your thoughts in the night.
The Takeaway
Here’s where I tell you that it’s gonna be okay. I know life sucks but you should be willing to believe that there is something amazing waiting for you in the future. Even if you don’t believe me, it’s only the truth. I hope you use some of my techniques from ‘How to Escape from Your Life Problems’.
