These are 10 of my very own productivity tips that personally help me stay productive every day.
One thing that I’ve learned lately is that just doing one new and small habit every single day is amazing for your productivity. Slow and steady truly does it.
Getting pumped up and motivated to start a new habit is great and all, but what truly keeps you going day after day is when you truly believe in yourself. That’s something that I’ve learned in my journey of productivity. You have to be willing to hold that belief in yourself for a very long time.
If you want to start a life long habit, start small and keep building. And make sure to truly believe that you can do this one habit for the rest of your life.
The tips that I want to share in this post are little productivity hacks that you can use – maybe one, or two or all of them, to boost your productivity from now on.
I do have one extra reminder to everyone: We don’t always have to be productive. Sometimes we just need to take a breath and enjoy the human experience. Taking breaks is very, very important, and part of productivity means taking breaks. It’s always good to slow down when you feel really overwhelmed by being on GO mode all the time.
A few days ago, I was on a streak – I was doing all these things, writing and reading, and it was pretty productive. I didn’t even go on my phone until it was time to go to sleep.
The next day, I was so burnt out. I was just sitting on my couch in a dazed mood, so completely out of it. I was working way too hard and expecting results NOW NOW NOW. The thing is, most things take time. Slow and steady does it.
Without further ado, here are my 10 productivity tips that personally help me stay productive every single day.
10 Productivity Tips That Help Me Stay Productive
Remember to try out at least one of these productivity tips in your daily routine. Believe that it will boost your productivity, and be deliberate when carrying them out, and then watch the magic happen! This productivity tips list starts not on the day, but the day before, for extra spice!
1 – The night before
Yep, my day actually starts the night before. What I’ll do is while lying in bed, ready for sleep, I’ll make a mental to-do list of all the things I think I want to do the next day. It doesn’t have to be organized and meticulous. You just have to think about what you want your day to look like. The night before is always important to me because it has the ability to make or break the next day.
Part of this productivity tip is that I always say my positive affirmations just so I can fall asleep with that playing on my subconscious mind. I’ll also listen to affirmation on youtube, but currently I listen to Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life; the audiobook. It always makes sure I wake up in a spectacular mood.
Today I woke up in such a good mood. It was awesome. All because of my nightly routine.

2 – Wake up and do some stretches
I’m not a fan of waking up super early. I mean, I don’t hate it, but I’m not super excited to wake up super early. When I wake up, the first thing I’ll do is some bed stretches. That wakes me up for sure, and makes me feel productive, honestly.
I do some light stretches in bed, nothing too extreme to get me sweaty. I do some easy hand exercises to ease mobility in my shoulders. I also do some leg exercises if I feel like it.
This is a stretch in ballet, I think? Lie on your back, lift both your legs up, and kind of wave your legs back and forth. Then hold your left leg up and wave your right at a 90-degree angle, and vice versa. This increases flexibility for sure, and it’s a great productivity tip!
3 – Make your bed
My third productivity tip in order of occurrence is to make my bed.
I always wondered why every productivity guru out there always said to make your bed every single day. I never got it, until I started doing it myself. First of all, it makes my room look a lot neater and tidier. It just calms the energy in my room, as opposed to the unruliness caused by messy sheets.
However, the best part about making my bed is that I feel like I’m doing something just for myself. When I get into my bed later that day, I’m thinking oh my God, I love myself so much that I gave myself some crisp cold sheets to sleep on! It truly feels like self care. I love doing things for myself. Like, actively giving myself physical attention.
4 – Hydrate!
My first order of business is to drink a huge mug of warm water. I’ve tried starting with lemon water, but I find it makes me waste time because I’ll nurse that cup for so long, taking small sips. Lemon has this scratchy effect on my throat, so I stick to regular water.
After I stock up after a few hours of not drinking anything while sleeping, I find myself so hydrated. I can literally feel the water rejuvenating my whole body. This is a definite tip to increase productivity. In addition to that, you need to hydrate yourself throughout the day. I have a huge water bottle that I like to fill with water. I’m talking close to a gallon. Drink this little by little every day, until you have finished the entire bottle. Hydrating definitely makes me feel really productive.
5 – Workout and Yoga
Number #5 on my productivity tips: Working out and Yoga.
Honestly, some days this step is the only thing that makes me feel like I did something productive. And it’s good enough. I mean, I’m showing up for my body. Exercising is such a good thing for your heart, your lungs, and so much more.
It gets me so energized, and it’s usually my first activity in the day. I like to finish working out and get it out of the way before I shower and begin my day. I prefer to feel fresh throughout the day instead of working out in the evening.
Some days, I don’t even do much. Just a bit of yoga is good enough for me. A little goes a long way when it comes to moving your body. I never regret a single workout, and I’m totally cool with doing 5 minutes of exercise. After that, I hit the shower.
6 – Dress up for yourself
This is one productivity tip that I didn’t know could be so life-changing! After my shower, I make sure to change into clothes that aren’t defined as sleep-wear. It’s so hard to stay at home and not wear comfy clothes, but it must be done.
Wearing regular clothes makes me at least 2 times more productive. There’s something about dressing up that makes you want to get more accomplished. It doesn’t have to end at dressing up, though. You can go ahead and apply some lip gloss and mascara. Put your hair up, or in a braid. This is a bit like organizing your body! Stray hairs won’t get in the way in the middle of the day.
Honestly, I think this productivity tip helps me sit up straighter and be more focused throughout the whole day.
7 – Make a to-do list
After I’m feeling super fresh and ready to take on the day, I’ll open my notebook and ask myself what I’d like to get done today. This is a very important step for productivity. If you don’t be intentional about the day, there’s a high chance you’ll spend it watching TV shows all day. Being intentional really matters. It signals your subconscious mind that you want to get productive that day.
You just lay it out for the background processes in your mind that you’re trying to be productive today. There’s a real difference between setting out a to-do list and not setting one. On days I don’t set intentions, I’m going to just float around, not expecting anything from myself. That’s why it’s important to set a to-do list. It doesn’t even have to be written down, even though that’s more efficient. You can just ask yourself what you are expecting from yourself that day, and it works!
8 – Boost your positive emotions!
Productivity tip #8: Get you a dose of happiness.
Make a list of things that are sure to make you happy at any point in the day. You need that dose of happiness every single day, even on the good days. One of my go-to’s for boosting positive emotions is to listen to some music. Listening to something great can really make me happy. It’s at the top of my list of things to do every single day.
I’ll usually be intentional about playing the music just to get hit with some dopamine. Being deliberate with why you are doing something can make all the difference. Be sure to include all the things that make you happier into your every day. For some people, it can be a nice hot mug of tea or coffee. Or maybe watching a bit of your favorite TV show (don’t get carried away though). You know what makes you happy whatever the circumstance may be, so do that for yourself. You deserve to be happy more!

9 – Turn off my wi-fi
This is my biggest productivity hack. I turn off the wi-fi on my phone. I don’t turn off my phone completely because usually important phone calls come through the carrier lines. Everything else runs on internet, be it social media apps like Instagram and Twitter, or messaging apps and pretty much every app I go on.
When I turn off my wi-fi on my phone, I’m looking at a full day of productivity. No distractions, no YouTube videos or getting sucked into a wormhole of Instagram. Sometimes I actually have to remind myself to take a break because I forget to relax. This is one of my most efficient productivity tips, and I’d encourage you to give it a shot!
10 – Wind down
My last and final productivity tip is to be deliberate with taking breaks.
When I focus on being productive, I can GO-GO-GO for a huge chunk of time without taking a mindful break. That’s why I’ve made it an important part of my day to wind down and do something to treat myself.
Usually, I’ll schedule a movie date with myself some time in the week. I used to watch a lot of stuff, but these days I’m more focused on productivity. That’s why I make sure to watch a movie at least once a week.
Working without conscious rest can leave me feeling really dazed. Sometimes I’ll be down for an entire day because I didn’t take more breaks over the last few days. That’s why I find it very important to consciously set out time to wind down and relax.

Enjoy Your Productivity
So, that’s it, lovely souls. These are the little things that I do to maintain my streak of productivity day in, day out. It’s really up to you to decide what your productivity journey is going to be like. If you integrate some of these tips, maybe one or two into your daily routine, you’re going to see a big difference, because it’s the small things that add up one by one.
Remember that your own journey is different, and it does no good to compare yourself to anyone else. I used to base my self-worth on my productivity, and I used to compare myself to other people. Now I know that there’s no point in comparison. You don’t have to be productive every single day. You can just live, and you will still be worthy and good enough.
