It’s that time of my existence where I need to redesign my life. I want to begin my life again.
Why I want to Begin My Life Again
I’m someone that is all about self development and improvement. It’s literally my mantra and my catch phrase.
It is something I live by. It makes my life worth living.
As long as I do something towards improving myself that day, it is a day well spent.
But right now, I have a problem. I feel like life is at a standstill.
Things aren’t working out. I keep waiting for life to happen to me.
I keep waiting for that perfect body and that awesome self confidence to get me new friends.
And it’s stressing me out.
I’m starting to figure out that maybe I shouldn’t be waiting for my perfect body or that self esteem I desperately want so that my life can finally begin again.
But I think I have cracked the code to learning how to redesign your life and also to begin your life again.
It’s all about some mindset fixes and a bit of some action. Let’s get into the 10 new habits you need to begin your life again.
10 New Habits to Redesign Your Life
You might be doing some of these habits, but I invite you to start them again with renewed intentions, and a better mindset shift. Do your actions with the sole intention of redesigning and beginning your life again.
1 . Read more self help books
I’m a big reader, but that doesn’t mean I like all the self help books out there.
I stick to the ones that I enjoy the most. What do I mean exactly? Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is a self help book. But I don’t enjoy reading it.
I only stick to stuff that interests me and is easy to read. I am currently reading 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna Wiest.
Explore all the self help categories and read the ones that speak to you. They are what you need in life right now.
2 . Give up on unrealistic expectations
I’ve been struggling for so long to look thinner and skinnier.
I’ve tried so hard and for so long and I’ve finally given up.
I don’t think it’s possible for me to be a size 0 the way I naturally eat
I’ve tried to change my eating habits, but it’s just INNATE, the way I eat. It’s how I eat when I’m sick and need comfort. It’s how I eat when I’m celebrating. It’s just what I default to, and I find it hard to create a new restrictive way to eat.
I’m tired of thinking I am my body.
I am much more than that. I am my mind and soul and heart.
And everyone should love me for what’s within, not how my body looks.
This is not to say that I won’t be healthy and workout. I will, and I do, much more naturally than I used to when I cared how I looked.
3 . Forgive yourself so you can begin your life again
I can’t stress this enough.
Stop thinking that you are done with life because you did a bad thing. You are not unworthy because you slipped up.
It’s okay to let yourself down sometimes. It can be hard to stand up for yourself all the time. Stop trying to be strong all the time.
Just because you slipped up and hurt someone does not mean you lose the privilege of being human. You don’t lose the privilege of being worthy.
4 . Move your body
Our bodies need to be allowed to move in the natural way they were created to move.
If you want to redesign your life or to begin your life again, you might want to try out something new.
I do yoga and workout in the morning, but I have started a new practice of just moving my body.
I turn on some peaceful meditation music, let my hair down, light a few incense sticks and just… move my body. I dance and sway and jump around.
I don’t care about how I look, I do this for myself, to feel how my body wants to flow.
5 . Eat healthier to redesign your life
You can’t keep eating badly every day and expect to redesign your life.
Eating badly is like putting garbage into your body. If you want the best for yourself, you would only eat the good stuff.
Now, I’m not saying stuff like sugar and oily food is bad for you. I invite you to study how each things you put into your body makes you feel.
Coffee makes me downright sick. That means I don’t have it anymore. Milk and eggs give me a bad sensation in my body. This means my body is giving me a message.
Start listening to your body and actually respond and serve it.
6 . Stop listening to everyone
I was programmed to have to listen to everyone that I met. My parents taught me to obey and listen to them like a robot.
And that’s how I turned out. I never disobey anyone. I just couldn’t.
But now I know that I don’t have to obey anyone or listen to their opinions on how I should live my life.
I have my own ideas on how to run things in my life.
And nowadays, I listen to myself and I do what I want to do.
That is one way to begin your life again, only this time, it’s on YOUR terms.
7 . Know that you can’t change others | Redesign your life
One of the reasons why I am frustrated in my relationships is because I try to change other people.
I take pride in the fact that I don’t judge others, but I’m starting to think that it’s not really true.
I want other people to change. I keep telling them how they need to change. I want them to be better.
But no one really wants to change.
This is something that I am coming to terms with.
No one is going to change just because I told them to.
8 . You are the captain of your ship
I’ll do my best to explain this point on how to redesign your life.
Even though there are other people in your life, you are the number one priority. You must do the best for yourself, and then give to others.
You are the master of your life. Your life is the only one that matters. Because you came here to experience what it means to be YOU.
You wanted to feel what it meant to be a human named YOU.
9 . Stop showing up too much for others
I tend to go above and beyond for others. That’s alright.
However, I don’t do from my heart. I don’t do it out of love and care.
I do it to be rewarded and praised.
This makes me feel empty when I don’t receive the same from others.
The simple solution to that is to stop doing things when you know you are not coming from a place of unconditional love.
Begin your life again, only this time, you show up for others less.
10 . Practice a lot more gratitude and positivity so you can redesign your life
Gratitude is something I learned to do only recently.
I used to think gratitude was a feeling that made you feel so happy to receive something. But that’s not gratitude, that’s happiness. It’s alright to be happy for the nice stuff you receive in life.
However, being grateful just means pointing out the things in life you are comfortable and glad having.
Gratitude can also be for the regular things in life. Having a laptop. Having a bed.
Being grateful for those sorts of things can help you to redesign your life.
Being grateful the right way can be a chance to begin your life again.
Start a new and redesigned life with you on top
Some of the new habits I have suggested might seem a bit selfish and give off negative vibes. Like the one where I say you shouldn’t listen to everyone. I know it felt a bit weird to me.
However, you must remember that well-adjusted adults don’t need anyone’s permission or command to do anything. Learning to begin your life again means willing to do what you haven’t been doing all these years.
